Commissionerate of Land Administration (CLA) is one among the five Commissionerates administered by the Revenue & Disaster Management, Government of Tamil Nadu; the others are being Commissionerate of Revenue Administration & Disaster Management, Commissionerate of Land Reforms, Commissionerate of Urban Land Ceiling & Urban Land Tax and Commissionerate of Survey and Settlement. The Commissionerate of Land Administration administers all the Government Land in the State dealing with important subjects such as Assignment of Land for House Site and Cultivation, Land Transfer, Land Alienation, Land Lease and Exchange of Land. Commissionerate of Land Administration also ensures the protection and preservation of Government Land by enacting Tamil Nadu Land Encroachment Act, 1905.
