Land Alienation

The Government lands are alienated to State Government Undertakings / Boards etc., such as SIDCO, SIPCOT, TANGEDCO, TNPHC, TNHB, TNSCB etc., Central Government Departments / Undertakings, such as Railways, Airport Expansion, Neyveli Lignite Corporation as per the provision made in R.S.O.24, on the request made by them for public purpose as well as for the implementation of their projects and schemes. Further, the Government lands are alienated to the private Institutions and Companies scarcely, if their requests are found to be genuine and based on availability of land. If the lands are required for non-commercial purpose, single land cost is collected and double land cost is collected if the lands are required for commercial purpose.

Land Alienation at Free of Cost

Considering the public welfare, the Government lands are alienated to Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Sewerage Board and Local Bodies for the implementation of Drinking Water Scheme, Underground Drainage Scheme and Solid Waste Management Scheme, as a special case, free of cost. Moreover, the Government lands are alienated to Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board free of cost for construction of tenements to the houseless poor people.

Powers Delegated to District Collectors

The Government in their G.O.Ms.No.241, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, dated 16.5.2020 have issued order delegating the powers to all District Collectors to accord enter upon permission in respect of Land Alienation / Land Transfer on objectionable and unobjectionable Government poramboke lands without monitory limit.
